Solar on Home Roof
February 12, 2021

This Valentine’s Day, love is in the air. This week our solar experts are finding new reasons to fall for solar. We’re in our feelings and here to share them with you!

1.     Solar Energy is free from the sun

While installing solar is not free, the source of the energy is! The sun emits an unlimited amount of solar radiation that we can harness to power, your home, business, or car!

2.     Solar is renewable and will not run out anytime soon

If there is one thing we can almost certainly guarantee, that is the sun will keep rising every morning. This means that the source of your electricity will not run out. By producing your own solar, you are limiting the amount of power used from non-renewable sources like fossil fuels.

3.     Solar is a clean way to produce electricity

Solar energy is clean energy and a resource that has little to no carbon emissions, By producing your own clean energy you are reducing the amount of pollution-causing power that you are consuming. Going green is good for you, your community, and the planet!

5.     Solar Can power your home

Solar panels on your roof allow you to produce your own energy, essentially functioning as your own power plant. This allows you to use the energy that you produce. still tied to the utility grid allows you to sell the excess energy you produce back to your utility company and use energy from the grid when you need to.

6.     Going solar helps people save money

Since you will be producing your own electricity and selling the excess back to the utility company, many homeowners reduce their electricity costs by a significant amount. Even when they have solar loans and financing, the payments are often lower than their original electricity bills. As an added bonus, rolling this payment into a fixed loan allows you to better budget your energy expenses.

7.     Solar can add value to your home

In an independent study by Zillow, adding solar to your home can significantly increase the value of your home. In Florida, this adds on average 4% or more than $9,000 to the value of your home. As another added benefit, this value is not tax assessed.

8.    Solar energy can be harnessed at night when the sun isn’t shining

Batteries and energy storage systems have come a long way for solar. They are also currently being used by many homes and businesses to harness energy at night and in the event of storms (which are plenty in Florida)Batteries and energy storage systems have come a long way for solar. They are also currently being used by many homes and businesses to harness energy at night and in the event of storms (which are plenty in Florida). Currently, Solar Impact offers the Tesla Powerwall, which provides a great way to store your solar energy!

9.     Solar provides a way for us to be energy independent

Solar lessens our reliance on fossil fuels. Many of the fuels being used today come from outside of the United States. Producing energy on your home or business allows you to be less reliant on these foreign fuels and allows you to gain energy independence. Solar Impact uses materials that are produced in the United States, allowing for better control of our supply chain and limiting the distance that our material has to travel.

10.     Federal Incentives make solar affordable

The federal solar tax credit also called the federal investment tax credit (ITC), allows homeowners and businesses to deduct 26% of the cost of installing a solar energy system from their federal taxes. The tax credit applies to the cost of materials and labor, applies to both residential and commercial systems, and has no cap on its value. If your tax credit exceeds your tax bill, the excess credit can be carried into the following tax year.

11.     Good for the environment

Solar power systems derive clean, renewable energy from the sun. Installing solar panels on your home helps combat climate change and limits greenhouse gas emissions, all while reducing your dependence on fossil fuels. Solar Impact also stands to help our communities mitigate the impact of climate change by planting trees in our community for every solar installation that we complete.

12.     Benefit our community
